Messenger

Secure messaging for your Connect connections

The SendMeSafe Messenger is your direct communication channel to verified business partners within Connect. Chat 1:1, share links and files, and always see whether a message was end-to-end encrypted. Ideal for quick questions, approvals, and staying in context without switching to external tools.

Features In Detail

1:1 Chats With Connections

Message your accepted Connect connections directly. No unknown senders, no open inbox.

Optional E2E Encryption

If both participants have set up and unlocked encryption, messages are end-to-end encrypted.

Visible Encryption Status

You can see when E2E is active: a badge in the header and a lock icon on individual messages.

Read Receipts & Typing Indicator

Stay in flow with delivery/read status and a typing indicator for better real-time context.

Share Links and Files

Share files right from the chat (for example via Share Links) and keep everything in one place.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is every message automatically end-to-end encrypted?

E2E is available when both participants have set up and unlocked encryption. You'll see whether E2E is active via the badge or lock icon in the chat.

Can strangers message me?

No. Messenger works only between accepted Connect connections. This significantly reduces spam.

Can I send files in Messenger?

Yes. You can share files from the chat, typically via Share Links or Transfers, so communication and sending stay in the same context.

What happens if I forget my encryption password?

Your encryption password cannot be recovered. Previously encrypted messages might no longer be decryptable.

Are there read receipts?

Yes. In the chat you can see whether a message was delivered and read (check marks).

Best Practices

  • Store your encryption password safely (password manager).
  • Only send sensitive content when E2E is shown as active in the chat.
  • Use Share Links with an expiry date for time-sensitive files.
  • Disconnect connections you no longer need to keep surface area and risk low.

Tips

  • Set up encryption before sending sensitive content.
  • Review connections carefully before chatting and sharing files.
  • Share large files via Transfers or Share Links for better overview.
  • Use the desktop app to stay on top of messages with notifications.

Security

  • E2E encryption is available (X25519 + XSalsa20-Poly1305) when both sides are set up and unlocked.
  • All connections use HTTPS (TLS 1.3) for secure transport.
  • Encryption status is visible (badge/lock) so you don't have to guess the security level.
  • Only Connect connections can chat. Disconnecting removes access immediately.
